Frequently asked questions

How does AI proposal drafting work?

Add the tender pack and Smartender reads it: what the buyer asks for, how the bids will be evaluated and which documents are required. It then drafts an answer to each question from the pack and from your company Vault. Everything it writes is a draft for you to review.

Can I edit my draft?

Yes — every answer, the cover letter and the technical proposal. Edit them directly, or ask the assistant to rewrite a section, including in the style of a document you attach. Smartender never signs, submits or lodges anything for you.

What does my account include?

The live tender feed with a match score for each tender, your company Vault, AI drafting, the assistant, checks before you submit and the assembled response pack. What you can use depends on your plan.

How do plans work?

Each plan includes a number of tender responses a month, and starting a new response uses one. During the invite-only pilot the platform is free of charge — ask us which plan suits your team.

How is my company information handled?

Your company profile, documents and pricing remain yours; we process them only to provide the service. Your account and documents are stored on our server in South Africa. The AI features — reading a tender pack, a CV or a CSD report, drafting and the assistant — send the content they work on to AI model providers outside South Africa, and you are asked to consent to cross-border processing when you sign up. Two-factor sign-in is available on every account.
